Tuesday, December 7th was the date of our Fall 2021 Maker Holiday Meeting. We had a wonderful turnout of makers, mentors, faculty, and friends.

Tuesday, November 2nd, marked our 3rd fall cohort meeting of 2021. We worked in teams to do a c-sketch, which is a way to spark creativity and ideas when collaborating with others.

November 2020- Maker Community Workshop

On Saturday, November 14th, UTeach Maker used Zoom to host a weekend workshop. Makers and mentors spent time working together to explore the concept of ambiguity as it applies to making and to life. There was also time to work on their Maker Showcases.

Tuesday, November 10th, marked our 3rd fall cohort meeting of 2020. We worked on teams to adapt a maker measurement challenge that we had done last year for a remote setting. A fun and creative demonstration for making in a remote context.

Tuesday, October 13th, was our second fall cohort meeting. We had fun with a "Guess the Movie" emoji icebreaker, saw examples of at-home maker activities for students, and put together our own at-home maker kits.

September 2020 - Reconnect with Your Inner Maker

Tuesday, September 1st, marked our first fall cohort meeting of 2020. As in the summer, we met on Zoom and had a great time. We spent time reconnecting, had a visit from pi-top, and worked on maker vision boards to help us start the semester off right.

UTeach Maker - STEM FOR ALL Video Showcase

As an instructional approach, making can harness the processes of fabrication to promote specific learning outcomes. To support this innovative teaching practice, Noyce recipients at the University of Texas UTeach program (Award #1557155) can participate in UTeach Maker, a micro-credentialing program that helps preservice STEM teachers bring maker-centered instruction into learning environments.

March 2019 - SxSW EDU Austin Maker Meet Up

02-05-2019 Picture 1On Tuesday, March 5th, UTeach Maker held our monthly cohort meeting at co.lab, a community makerspace in Austin that is focused on inclusion and diversity. This meeting served as a precursor to an unoffical SXSW Maker Ed meet-up that was attended by makers from around the United States. The evening kicked off with Texas style BBQ and a chance for UTeach Makers and Mentors to share their making activities with each other.

05-01-2018 Picture 1On Tuesday May 1st, UTeach Maker hosted out monthly cohort meeting featuring the Maker Showcases of our Spring 2018 UTeach Maker Fellows. The evening started off with an opportunity to our UTeach Makers and Mentors to share projects that have been working on in a Maker Playground. Lauren Siegel of MathHappens shared some of her laser-cut manipulative for teaching about mathematics, Alex Morrison invited people to participate in sewable project that she will be hosting at the 2018 Austin Maker Faire, Jason Harron shared 3D laser-cut art based on Voronoi diagrams, Mao Leonard demonstrated projects she has created in Scratch, Halle Herzog dazzled with her brightly colored threaded flowers, and Arami Rosales defied gravity with her magnetic levitated vehicle track.
